The 34th edition of the “Take Care - Surakemu Magathota” Road Safety Programme, aimed at educating school children on responsible road usage, was successfully conducted on 25th September 2025 at C.W.W. Kannangara Vidyalaya, Mathugama. This impactful initiative is jointly organized by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, Sri Lanka Police, and the Independent Television Network (ITN) under the broader Clean Sri Lanka Initiative.
The programme featured comprehensive theory and practical sessions led by the Sri Lanka Police, emphasizing the importance of road rules, ethics, and safety measures that all road users should adhere to when using public roads. Key topics included responsible behavior, adherence to traffic laws, and practical demonstrations on pedestrian and driver safety to help reduce road accidents.
Students at C.W.W. Kannangara Vidyalaya actively engaged in the sessions, showing enthusiasm and a strong awareness of the vital role they play in promoting road safety within their communities. The collaboration between government bodies and media organizations underscores the national commitment to cultivating a culture of road safety and responsibility starting from young learners.
