Under the inspiring theme, “A Beautiful Beach for a Thriving Nation,” a nationwide programme to develop 100 mini beach parks will commence from the southern coastal belt on September 27, 2025. This initiative is part of the Clean Sri Lanka programme, jointly organized by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the Ministry of Environment, and the Department of Coast Conservation & Coastal Resource Management.
The programme aims to enhance the beauty and recreational facilities of Sri Lanka’s coastline while promoting environmental sustainability and community engagement. These mini beach parks will provide well-maintained, accessible green spaces along the shores, contributing to boosting local tourism and preserving the country’s natural heritage.
Through collaborative efforts involving government agencies and local communities, this project seeks to foster pride in the coastal environment and encourage responsible stewardship. The phased development of these parks will include landscaping, walking tracks, seating areas, and awareness campaigns on protecting coastal ecosystems.
This initiative reflects the Clean Sri Lanka vision of a cleaner and more vibrant island where the nation and its natural beauty thrive in harmony.
