Under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, a significant step towards sustainable waste management will be marked with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Material Rehabilitation Center. This center will be managed by the Kattankudy Urban Council to facilitate solid waste recycling in local government areas.
The initiative is operated under the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, aiming to promote advanced solid waste recycling practices within provincial administrative boundaries.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Zaha Marine Banquet Hall, Marine Drive in Kattankudy. This new facility is expected to improve waste processing efficiency and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for the region.
Officials and stakeholders from various government sectors and the community will attend the event to witness this milestone in regional waste management development.
This project underlines the government's commitment to environmental sustainability and sets a precedent for similar initiatives across Sri Lanka.
