Restoring Vision: Successful Cataract Screening Clinic at Meegahakiwela Hospital under Clean Sri Lanka Initiative

The special eye examination clinic was successfully held on September 17th at the Meegahakiwela Divisional Hospital in alignment with the Clean Sri Lanka National Program and during the Provincial Governance Week 2025, on the occasion of Health and Sanitation Day.

The program was organized under the guidance and direction of Dr. J.C.M. Tennakoon, Director of Uva Provincial Health Services, and Dr. A.M.T.K. Attanayake, Director of Badulla Provincial Health Services, with Dr. Amila Chinthaka, Meegahakiwela District Medical Officer and his staff coordinating the event.

It was conducted with the assistance and cooperation of doctors, eye technicians, nursing officers, and other staff members from institutions including the Badulla Provincial Health Services Directorate, Mahiyanganaya, Diyathalawa, Bandarawela base hospitals, Meegahakiwela MOH Office, primary health care centers in Thaldena and Ella, and the Badulla MOH Office. The program received full support from the Meegahakiwela Pradeshiya Sabha.
