As part of the Clean Sri Lanka National program, a two day inaugural workshop was conducted in Nanu Oya, Nuwara Eliya district. This workshop kickstarted a series of provincial level training sessions designed to elevate the ethics and service quality of three wheel (Tuk Tuk) taxi drivers working in the tourism sector.
The program, organized by the Central Province Department of Trade, Commerce, and Tourism, was officially opened under the leadership of Mr. Velu Yogaraja, Chairman of the Nanu Oya Pradeshiya Sabha.
Key officials present included Mr. W.D.C. Janaka, Chief Inspector and Police Station Head of Nanu Oya Police, and Mr. Nihal, Deputy Director of the Motor Vehicle Department. Representatives from various departments also participated, including Mr. M.S.P.A.N. Manikbovala of the Central Province Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism, Mr. N.K.S.B. Nayakorala, Tourism Promotion Officer at the Mathurata Divisional Secretariat, Ms. S.B. Dissanayake, Advisor (Women) from the Central Province Ministry of Industry, and Mr. P.J. Suranjith Bandara Navaratne, Coordinator from the Tourism Department.
The event saw active participation from over 100 three-wheel taxi drivers from the region, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving professional standards in the local tourism transport sector.
