A cleanup program was launched recently for the waterlogged Chilaw town, coordinated by the Clean Sri Lanka Program in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council and the Youth Corps. The initiative mobilized officials and trainees from both organizations, who contributed their labor to clean the Chilaw General Hospital premises and remove debris from the Eichchampitiya and Malpura areas.
The program also saw participation from distinguished figures including Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hon.Sunil Gamage, Deputy Minister Hon.Sugath Thilakaratne, and Putlam District Members of Parliament Hon.Gayan Janaka, Hon.Ajith Gihan, and Hon.Hiruni Wijesinghe, along with other government officials. Their involvement underscored the collective commitment to restoring the affected areas and supporting the recovery process for communities impacted by recent flooding.
This collaborative effort highlights the proactive role of youth organizations and government representatives in supporting disaster response and community rehabilitation under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. It reflects a shared dedication to maintaining public health and safety while fostering civic responsibility among young people.
